Up to 180 Days of Eligible Storage Coverage

Choose the coverage that fits your move

Moving insurance is separate from the basic carrier liability that may apply to your shipment. Available options, eligibility, deductibles, exclusions, and claim settlement terms depend on the policy selected and the completed application.

Option 1

All Risk Coverage with Valued Inventory

Designed for customers seeking broader protection. You must provide a complete valued inventory and declare the full replacement value of the entire shipment. Undeclared items may not be eligible for coverage.

Best suited for: household goods shipments where repair, replacement, or settlement for covered partial loss or damage is important.

Option 2

Total Loss Coverage

Provides coverage only when the entire shipment is lost as defined by the policy. It does not provide coverage for partial loss or individual damaged items.

Best suited for: customers who want limited protection against the complete loss of the shipment and understand that partial loss is excluded.

How to request coverage

Complete these steps before packing begins. Coverage is not bound merely because a form has been downloaded, completed, or submitted.

Important high-value item requirements

Artwork and antiques valued at or above $10,000 require prior approval before packing. Proof of value and condition documentation may be required for artwork, antiques, clothing, shoes, handbags, vehicles, and other high-value property.

Do not pack cash, negotiable instruments, jewelry, passports, important documents, hazardous materials, perishables, or other excluded items.

Moving insurance questions

When should I submit the insurance application?

Submit the completed application, valued inventory, and supporting documents before packing begins. Allow time for review, especially when the shipment contains high-value artwork, antiques, or vehicles.

Does submitting the form automatically activate coverage?

No. Submission alone does not bind coverage. Written confirmation and a certificate must be issued, and the applicable premium and policy requirements must be satisfied.

How is the premium calculated?

The premium is generally calculated by applying the applicable rate to the declared value of the shipment. The current minimum premium is $175 per certificate. Deductible and shipment type affect the rate.

What is a valued inventory?

A valued inventory is a complete list of the items being shipped and the value assigned to each item. For All Risk coverage, the full value of the entire shipment must be declared.

Are owner-packed boxes covered?

Coverage for owner-packed goods is limited. Breakage, scratching, denting, chipping, staining, or tearing may be excluded unless caused by a covered event specified in the policy.

Does coverage include storage?

The current rate schedule includes up to 180 total days of eligible storage coverage at the origin and/or destination warehouse, unless otherwise agreed. Storage beyond 180 days requires approval and an additional premium.

Are vehicles insured under the same certificate?

A vehicle is generally placed on its own certificate, and a separate deductible may apply. Personal property inside a vehicle and certain accessories or mechanical conditions are excluded.
