Moving to the Philippines
Coming home to family or starting a new chapter? We help you plan what to bring and how to get it there, with packing, international shipping and delivery arrangements for your move from the USA to the Philippines.
Start with Where You Will Live
The Philippines is an island country, so the final address matters as much as the destination port. Moving into a condominium in Metro Manila is a different project from delivering a household to Cebu or a home that needs an additional island connection.
Before you decide how much to ship, look closely at your new home. Is it furnished? Will your dining table fit? Is there room for the furniture you use now? A floor plan and a few measurements can save you from paying to move pieces you will struggle to use.
Metro Manila
If your new home is in Makati, Taguig or elsewhere in Metro Manila, check the building’s moving requirements. Ask about service elevators, delivery hours and access for large furniture. Think about your everyday journeys, too, especially between home, work and school.
Cebu
Give us the specific address rather than just “Cebu.” Cebu City, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu and locations farther away can require different delivery arrangements. Knowing where you are settling helps us review the route and prepare a more useful estimate.
Other Destinations
For Davao or another destination beyond the main arrival point, confirm how your belongings will reach the house. Inland transport, local access and any additional sea connection need to be considered before the shipment leaves the United States.
What Is Worth Bringing?
Start with what you use and what matters to you. Then look at the larger pieces individually. Compare their shipping cost with their condition, replacement cost and usefulness in your new home.
Measure sofas, beds and cabinets against the room sizes and access points. For electrical appliances, check each item’s voltage and frequency requirements. A plug adapter alone does not establish that an appliance is suitable.
The tropical climate is another reason to give packing proper attention. Tell us about artwork, books, musical instruments or other belongings that may need additional protection so we can review the packing requirements.
Shipping Your Household Goods to the Philippines
Ocean Freight
For furniture and larger household moves, we can review ocean freight options. Depending on your shipment size and the services available for your route, this may mean a dedicated container or a smaller shipment sharing container space.
The important comparison is the complete service: collection, packing, shipping, destination handling and delivery. Ask what is included at each stage.
Air Freight
Air freight can be considered for a smaller shipment or selected items you need sooner. Weight and size affect the cost, so it is worth choosing those items carefully. Some households send a limited amount by air and the main shipment by sea.
Packing and Inventory
An overseas move involves several handling stages. We review the packing needs of your furniture, fragile items and personal effects, including whether particular pieces need crating. A clear inventory helps keep the shipment organized and supports the documentation process.
Confirm the Customs Requirements Before Shipping
Used household goods are not automatically exempt from Philippine duties and taxes. The applicable requirements depend on your circumstances and whether you qualify for a specific exemption.
Returning Filipino residents, overseas Filipino workers and foreign nationals should have their individual requirements reviewed before booking. Confirm the documents needed, any applicable arrival deadlines and whether particular items need permits or separate approval.
If you are considering bringing a vehicle, raise that at the beginning. Vehicle imports need a separate eligibility and requirements review.
Plan Beyond the Port
A shipment arriving in the Philippines is not the same as a shipment arriving at your home. Share the full delivery address and any access information as early as you can.
Building restrictions, stairs, limited truck access and additional transport can affect the arrangements. Your proposal should explain the destination services included and how any applicable examinations, duties, taxes, storage or unusual delivery requirements would be handled.
Ask for an estimated door-to-door schedule. Ocean transit time alone does not include every stage between packing your home and receiving your belongings.
Planning Your Move with Nobel Relocation
Nobel Relocation is a family-owned moving company established in 2004. With teams in Miami, Atlanta and Maryland serving the Washington, DC area, we coordinate international moves from locations across the United States.
We start with what you know: where you are moving from, where you are going and what you would like to take. From there, we review the shipment size, packing needs, available shipping options and destination arrangements.
You do not need a finished inventory to start. An approximate moving date, a destination city and a general idea of your belongings are enough for an initial conversation.
Moving to the Philippines from Your State
Choose your U.S. pickup state and tell us where in the Philippines you are moving. Your inventory and receiving address help us review packing, household shipping and the final delivery arrangements.
Questions About Moving to the Philippines
Can you arrange a move from anywhere in the USA?
Nobel Relocation coordinates international moves from across the United States. Pickup arrangements and available shipping options depend on your location, shipment size and destination.
How much does it cost to move to the Philippines?
The cost depends on your shipment volume, pickup location, packing needs, shipping method and final delivery address. Request an estimate that identifies the included services and potential additional charges.
How long will my household shipment take?
Timing depends on the route, service availability, customs clearance and delivery arrangements. Ask for an estimated door-to-door schedule based on your move rather than ocean transit time alone.
Should I bring my furniture?
Consider its condition, personal value, shipping cost and suitability for the new home. Confirm dimensions and building access before including large pieces.
Are used household goods automatically tax-free?
No. Any exemption depends on your eligibility and compliance with the applicable requirements. Confirm your individual position before shipping.
Can you arrange delivery outside Metro Manila?
Share the complete address so we can review available delivery arrangements. Additional inland or inter-island transport may be needed for some destinations.
