What Is Transfer of Residence (TR) and How Does It Protect You?

Under India’s Customs Act 1962, individuals who have lived outside India for a minimum of two years may import their used personal effects at concessional or nil duty rates — saving what would otherwise be significant import duty on furniture, electronics, and household items.
